1. Fishing at Lake Bob Sandlin State Park
This beautiful park is located at 341 State Park Rd 2117. The park is open daily from 8 AM to 4:30 PM. If you’re into fishing, this is the perfect spot for you. Even if you don’t have a fishing license, you can still enjoy the sport from the shore or pier. However, you must have a fishing license if you want to fish from a boat.
If you’re looking for the best fishing spots, try Brim Pond or Trout Pond. You’ll have a better chance of catching a catfish or largemouth bass there. Aside from fishing, you can enjoy 3.3 miles of hiking trails or stay overnight at one of Lake Bob’s campsites.
2. Hiking at Daingerfield State Park
Open daily from 8 AM to 8 PM, Daingerfield State Park is located at 455 Park Rd 17, Daingerfield (less than a 30-minute drive from Pittsburg). With over 500 acres of recreational land, the park has plenty of space for you to explore. One of the best ways to do this is hiking on several trails. Try the 2.4-mile Rustling Leaves Trail circling the 80-acre lake for a more leisurely walk.
If you’re up for a challenge and wish to get to the highest point in the park, take on the Mountain View Trail. The lake is also ideal for swimming, boating, paddling, or fishing. You can rent a boat or even purchase bait worms at the park store.
3. Exploring Efurd Orchards
